Reading and Learning Disabled Children: Understanding the Problem
by: Don Martin, Magy Martin, and Kathleen Carvalho
-many of the authors of the article are professors or students from higher schools.
-written in 2008.
Within the article, it describs how through studies and research, how teachers, medical people and everyone can understand the effects and the issues dealing with children who have reading or learning disabilities. Giving insight also to people that don't know how to deal with having people in their lives that have these disabilities.
The article is split up with having an intro at first. right after, there is the background so people can understand the issues that are being brought up. After that part of the article, the reader goes on and reads about the emotional issues for nonreaders. then it goes to the neurological learning factors. which talks about how the brain is not functioning the way is should and talks about how one does function with the disability. The next paragraph goes on to talk about how people can take an approach to this problem and then right after that paragraph is talking about the social pychological affects that we have to remember that are happening to the children who deal with this. the last paragraph is talking about how teachers can do to deal with having children with disabilities in their classrooms.
I believe that the literature review is well organized in this article and is needed. The article shows much information and data that proves their purpose of why the viewers should read it. It's informing and and shows relevant information to the readers.
